This new feature makes it easier for Google Home to hear you

You can lower the volume of Google Assistant’s responses and dim the brightness of Google Nest or Home speaker or display’s lights to avoid being disturbed. For Google Nest Mini, you may follow this guide to use the touch panel to adjust the volume. As explained in Google Home layout and buttons page, you can control Google Home with the top touch panel, including adjusting Google Home volume. As first spotted on Reddit, Night Mode is rolling out right now for those in the Google Home Preview Program. The do not disturb feature can be toggled on and off at the bottom of the menu. It won't work when casting with Android TV devices with fixed volumes.

Some of these features, like the Routines, Alarms, and Nighmode, do alter the volume to your liking. If you still cannot diminish the issue, switch the WiFi band. A traditional 2.4 GHz band has a lot of limitations, especially when the traffic in the network is high. You can check the speed and latency of the network through a speed testing application.

Step 4: Adjust Google Home volume using the slider, as shown below.

You can find such applications either through a browser or by downloading a dedicated app from your respective app store. If you experience automatic volume changes while using the Nest/Home as a Bluetooth speaker, refresh the connection as a possible remedy. Follow these steps on the Home app to reboot the device. A power cycle test is also one of the recommended troubleshooting steps by Google once your device starts acting up.

Then, follow these steps on the Home app. Assuming that you do know how to set up a Bluetooth connection on the Nest/Home device, follow these steps on the Home app to reset the Bluetooth connection. Actually the volume of Google assistant voice follows the device settings.

Step 1: Start Google Home app.

In the last 4 years I kept playing all my assistant devices at 20% volume, using Spotify. Follow these steps to reset the device through the Home app. On the newer Mini models, switch OFF the mic and then press and hold the Center button until the device turns OFF and back ON again. If done right, the music will stop playing on the devices. With this feature, you can connect multiple Nest/Home devices together and play media on them.

In this post, we will tell you how to fix the same issue of Google Home volume keeps changing. If your Google Nest Home is changing volume by itself, reboot the device and check your Bluetooth and internet connection. If the issue persists, turn off the "lower volume when listening" option on the Google Home app. You could also try adjusting the night mode, routines, and alarms on the Google Home app. If none of the above works, hard reset the Roku.

If you set the volume at 0, it will simply silence Google Home. “At” in the command is optional in the command. Alarm volume is a separate setting on Google Home because, presumably, you don’t want to miss your alarms just because you turned the music down. If you need to adjust the volume of your alarms, open up the Google Home app and tap the Devices button in the top right corner. To check and change the volume of the Alarms and Timers, follow these steps in the Home app.

All you have to do is to unplug the device for a few seconds or minutes and then press and hold the power button or the center button for a few seconds. That might sound weird to you, but some Google Home users have reported that changing the location of the smart speaker fixed the issue for them. The issue can happen on any Google Home device such as Google Home Mini, Nest, etc. For the sake of convenience, we are using the term Google Home across this post. But what could be the reason behind Google Home increasing the volume?

I am not sure about that, but I know that it’s not responsible for changing your Google Home volume. I’ve run into this countless times, so I’m happy to report that Google is now working to make this a much more seamless operation. If you started to cast content on a TV or speaker using a mobile phone and not your voice. The volume of your TV or speaker will lower when you say "Hey Google" and stay at that level while you talk to Assistant. When you're done, the volume of the TV or speaker will rise to the original volume setting.

If you started casting using anything other than Google Home, such as your phone or computer. Tap theDevicesbutton in the top right corner or tap the hamburger button in the top left and selectDevicesfrom the list. Fortunately, Google recently rolled out a new feature to address that particular issue. Taylor Martin has covered technology online for over six years.

He has reviewed smartphones for Pocketnow and Android Authority and loves building stuff on his YouTube channel, MOD. He has a dangerous obsession with coffee and is afraid of free time. Restart the Nest/Home device and check for the issue now. Make sure to turn OFF the "Lower volume when listening" option. Tap on the Setting icon and then select Night mode. Test the speeds again through the same speed testing application.

The volume of Google Home smart speakers can be changed in multiple ways. Those include touch controls, voice commands, and within the Google Home app. But what if you didn’t use any of those methods, and yet Google Home volume changes automatically?

Night mode is yet another feature, which once enabled will water down most of the features of the Nest/Home. But even while using the Nest/Home as a wireless speaker, you may get hit with the weird volume change issue. If the feature is enabled, then someone might be changing the volume on their phone either accidentally or purposely to annoy you.

I used to set it at 32% now its 50% for the same volume. You can change the volume on the Nest Mini in a couple of ways. The easiest one is through mere commands. Commands like " Hey Google, turn up the volume to 50%" or "Ok Google, turn the volume down" will yield results.

The Nest/Home, apart from being one of the best AI-enabled Smart home devices available right now, is also a damn good wireless speaker. Since night mode changes the volume, you should take a look at this setting and see if it is on. And if it is, whether its customizations match your need or not. When you use Google Home as a Bluetooth speaker, the volume can be changed from the connected devices, and it will remain the same once you disconnect. To brighten the lights on top of speaker or display, drag the slider to the right. To dim the lights on top of your speaker or display, drag the slider to the left.
